Florida State promoting Charles Kelly to defensive coordinator - Tomahawk Nation

Experience with defensive backs is important for Fisher, who said before hiring Pruitt in 2012 that experience in the back end of the defense was very important because of the need to match a secondary's coverage to the front a defense is playing.

Experience with coaches of the Bill Belichick and Nick Saban tree are also important. He'd also wanted a defensive coordinator with a background in defensive backs, like Saban.

"In today's game, being able to go back to front is very critical, because of the spread," Fisher said. "You have to be able to match your secondary coverages to your fronts. Who's going to fit, how they're going to fit, how you're going to handle certain play actions, how you're going to handle certain coverages. And I think it is much easier to go back to front than it is front to back. I think that knowledge is [crucial], especially the way the game is being played today, with such a spread dynamic to it."

I know this isn't necessarily news to 'Bama fans but I found the fact that Jimbo continues to design his organization after Saban's model to be rather interesting. Everything from the strength and conditioning, the psychology of players, sports medicine, bowl preparation and even the type background of his DC's. FSU is a mini-Bama at this point.

Which is just another reason why FSU winning the national title wasn't good for 'Bama.

SECond Look video: Recruiting decisions still in air for Rashaan Evans, Marlon Humphrey | AL.com

Auburn High School star Evans, a linebacker and defensive end, has decided to spend his crucial final weekend before National Signing Day in Los Angeles for an unofficial visit. Says Bean, "It seems to be down between Alabama and Auburn. He had mentioned UCLA, but that really seems to be a long shot." Hoover cornerback Marlon Humphrey, meanwhile, seems to be strongly considering both Alabama and Florida State. "Frankly, I think he will still end up at Alabama when all is said and done but he has played all of this very close to the vest," Bean says.

I don't know how serious Evans is about considering Alabama but that would be a huge coup if we were able to snag him out of Auburn's back yard.

And before Pruitt left for UGA everything I was hearing was that Marlon was a heavy FSU lean. Now, it seems that he's a Bama lock. As always when it comes to the emotions of 17 year old kids nothing is a given but it looks like Alabama will be signing two elite corners in this class.

SEC Basketball Roundup: Kentucky Rebounds, Florida Surges Ahead - Team Speed Kills

1. Florida Gators - While Kentucky faced yet another struggle this past week, it was the Florida Gators who made the best of what was in front of them. They easily dismantled the Georgia Bulldogs, and despite a superb shooting performance from the Auburn Tigers, Coach Billy Donovan's club skirted out of Auburn Arena with a victory to go 2-0 during the week. The No. 6 team in the land was aided by 21-point performances from both Michael Frazier and Casey Prather against Georgia and Auburn respectively. There is no denying that as of this point, Florida is trending up.

I'm trying to stay positive about Bama Hoops but after Saturday's game against Mizzou, I'm not feeling too confident about tonight's game, you guys.

In case you haven't read BamaBrave's preview of the Florida Gators, here are his keys to victory..

Three Keys To Victory

1. Generate Some Sort of Inside Presence. Florida is extremely stingy on defense, and Alabama isn't very good on offense. But the Gators aren't incredible at grabbing rebounds, and they actually have a pretty bad block rate. So, if someone like Nick Jacobs can get something going on the inside, Alabama might have a chance in this one.

2. Transition Baskets. Florida's defense is really good because they will absolutely shut you down in the halfcourt. What Alabama is going to have to do is create some fastbreak opportunities. Fortunately, Alabama has two guys in Trevor Releford and Retin Obasohan that can create a fastbreak in a blink of an eye. Alabama needs to get out ahead and run with it. A lot of times Alabama plays deliberately slow, but I just don't see that being successful against the Gators.

3. Hope for an Outlier from the Mean. This is basically my way of saying pray for a miracle. Show up, tune in, and hope that either Florida plays much worse than they usually do, or that Alabama plays a lot better than they usually do. There's really no other way that winning is a possibility.

The Differences: Reviewing Florida's first four SEC games - Alligator Army

Today, we're writing about four games that were won by a combined 47 points, which is way better than last time!

Go take a look at how Florida has fared in their first four SEC games...(Hint: Much better than Alabama)

FSU's Jacob Coker has the talent, background to transition into starting QB job at Alabama (analysis) | AL.com

An expected May graduation would make the redshirt sophomore eligible to transfer immediately without having to sit out a season. So who is Coker exactly and why's he qualified to succeed McCarron for a second time? Well at 6-foot-5 and 230 pounds, he's the physical prototype for the offense Alabama runs.

His big arm and experience within a pro-style scheme would give him a few edges over a young group of returning Alabama quarterbacks ready to compete.

Senior-to-be Blake Sims is the only returning Alabama quarterback who's thrown a collegiate pass, but is still transitioning from a mobile quarterback to the Alabama pro-style. Alec Morris came off the bench as a redshirt freshman, but only handed off a few times. Cooper Bateman was a five-star talent who redshirted his first season and David Cornwell brings similar expectations and pedigree after enrolling in January.

I know you guys are getting tired of hearing about rumors regarding Coker's transfer to Bama but looking at the 2014 season, Coker could very well be the difference between 10-2 and 14-0.
