"The extra point is almost automatic," Goodell said. "I believe we had five missed extra points this year out of 1,200 some odd (attempts). So it's a very small fraction of the play, and you want to add excitement with every play."
Goodell said one suggested proposal would be having a touchdown be worth seven points instead of six, with the potential for an extra play from scrimmage producing an eighth point. However, if the team failed on going for an eighth point, it would go back to six points.
Call me old school but this seems like a horrible idea. Goodell even makes my point for me. "The extra point is almost automatic." Um, Roger, if something is almost automatic why remove it from the game? Have you forgotten when Tony Romo bobbled the hold on a chip shot FG that wasn't that much longer than an extra point? That seemed like a pretty exciting moment in NFL history, no? Why not just remove the center-QB exchange cause that's almost automatic too.
For a college reference, how about the 1999 Alabama-UF game in the swamp? Off the top of my head I think there were two XP's missed in that game and one cost UF the tie and the win.
Get out of here with that mess, Roger. You've done enough to ruin the game, leave this one alone.

But what about Jacob Coker, the Florida State quarterback who hails from Mobile and has been long-rumored as a potential transfer option for Alabama? Saban didn't have much to say. Coker to Bama seems imminent at this point. Even people in the know, who previously have remained quiet on the subject, can no longer remain silent.

Look, Coker may not be the greatest QB of all time but he may be our best option for at least the next year. Reports about Cornwell are that he is extremely talented but also extremely raw. Do we really want to trust a guy who is a true freshman and who missed most of his senior year with a knee injury to lead Bama back to the promise land? Same goes for Bateman. He hasn't seen a single snap in college. He may have all the tools but he's not that much more polished than Cornwell.
Coker may be coming off an injury as well but he's at least seen some time on the field in college. I'd trust that, along with the physical tools he brings to the table, much more than a true or red shirt freshman. Just sayin.
That's not true, said Davis and fellow Campus Way resident Richard Sharper. They say Brown and a few other guests turned to leave immediately after officers pulled out the pepper spray. Brown walked approximately 30-40 yards to his car with an officer following behind, they said. The officer walked beside Brown and pepper sprayed Brown in the face as the athlete was complying with the command to leave, said Davis who only briefly met Brown before Saturday night..
"The police officer kept heckling him in his ear walking behind him," said Sharper, a 19-year-old Alabama student from Tuscaloosa. Davis and Sharper said they never saw Brown say anything or make any threatening move to provoke the pepper spray. Brown immediately fell to the ground in a fetal position, Davis said, as the officer pulled his gun. The crowd, which had been relatively calm to that point, was more tense after the pepper spray was used and when the gun came out, Davis said. Alabama football coach Nick Saban said he's spoken with Brown and he's doing fine.
"Look, some people are in the wrong place at the wrong time," Saban said in Mobile on Tuesday afternoon. "Some people don't make good decisions about what they do, what they say. Tony Brown's a fine young man, we're glad to have him in the program. We'll certainly try to use this as a learning experience for him. "The punishment he receives will be so that he learns not to do something like this in a disrespectful way to somebody in a position of authority who is there to protect us all, which is our police. We're going to get him to learn from this."

If Davis' account is true and the cop antagonized Brown, someone needs to get fired and probably sued. I understand Saban taking the high road here but I sincerely hope Brown just has to run a few stadiums and that's the end of it.
Trust me, I believe in respecting those in authority but this seems like a case where Brown, if he was truly trying to walk away, was well with-in his rights to "resist arrest and disobey". Just my thoughts on the matter.
Alabama coach Nick Saban responds to Vinnie Sunseri's decision to enter NFL Draft | AL.com
"We try to give every one of our players the best opportunity to make a good decision about whether they should stay in school or come out for the draft," Saban said. "My philosophy is very clear to our players. If you're a first-round draft pick, we're very, very supportive of you coming out for the draft because of the business decision, the amount of money.
But if you're not one of those guys, we certainly feel that you should come back to school, graduate from school, use your senior year to develop as a player and try to enhance your draft status for the next year. That's the advice we give to each and every one of our players. "This year, we had a couple of guys that probably don't fit that category, made the decision to do it and we'll be very supportive of them."
This is the first I've heard of Saban acknowledging Vinnie declaring for the draft. In fact, unless I missed it, Saban didn't bring up Vinnie's name once when the other four juniors declared. I don't want to put words in his mouth or thoughts in his head (this isn't Inception) but it seems as if Coach Saban wasn't too pleased with Vinnie's and probably Pagan's decision.
Alabama Football Star Kenyan Drake Thinks Women Can't Follow Football
Oof. I warn you, this one is a doozy. University of Alabama running back Kenyan Drake took to Twitter today and for some reason posted this hot mess of nonsense about women and sports. It really will make your brain hurt, so fair warning.
She mad. REAL mad. Look, I see her point and it was an insensitive comment but good gracious lady...
There are certainly things in this world worth getting angry over but what a college football player thinks about women and how well they may or may not understand football isn't one of them..
