Alabama Fails to Complete Comeback, Falls to Florida 52-50 - Roll 'Bama Roll
The loss by 'Bama was likely a dagger in their NCAA Tournament chances, and possibly a dagger to Coach Anthony Grant's future at the Capstone.
That's about the size of it. Another NIT is staring Alabama squarely in the face. The Tide played well on the boards, but in the end the same old issues plagued the Tide down the stretch that we've seen for six years: failure to box out, lack of a true inside threat, and an end-game offensive set that took the ball out of our best shooter's hands. Three one-possession losses in nine days is, to say the least, dispiriting. I absolutely feel for these players.
Is Mel Tucker the Man Who Can Fix Alabama's Secondary? | Bleacher Report
After a year at LSU, Tucker spent four years at Ohio State, coaching defensive backs like Dustin Fox, Donnie Nickey and Chris Gamble to the NFL.
There's a lot of good stuff in here. Notable are the player reactions. If Coach Tucker can enthuse the defense to half the degree that Lane Kiffin did on the other side, then we're in good shape. Equally important, the hire permits Coach Smart to move back to coaching ILBs, where he is a stronger position coach.

This is a story that could only become a story in the dead zone before NSD. Speaking of which, CB969 updates the state of Alabama recruiting every morning on the front page. Check it out.

SEC SPEEEEEEEEED

Tide ranked 3rd in the USA Today/Coaches Poll; 4th in the ESPN Preseason Poll.
Just eight days left until our little dynamo of a program takes the diamond. Season tickets have been sold out forever, but there is still some space in the Brickyard and for groups. I'll see you guys in a week to cover the opening pitch.
College Football Playoff may not be SEC party some envisioned - ESPN
At the end of the day, the SEC didn’t have any dominant teams this season. It did have a handful of teams capable of winning a national championship, but most of those teams beat up on each other.
The issue wasn't that the SEC didn't have dominant teams; rather, the issue is that the nation didn't have any dominant teams, although TCU, Alabama, Oregon, Ohio State all were dominant at times. And, if we're being honest, the best team in the nation did win the whole enchilada.
Gymnast Kaitlyn Clark Named SEC Specialist of the Week - ROLLTIDE.COM
Clark won her second vault title in three meets with a career-best 9.975 last Friday night against then No. 1 Florida to push Alabama to a season-best 49.500 team score, solidifying the Crimson Tide's position as the league's best vault team.
Congratulations to Kaitlyn and to the Tide Gymnasts, who move up to No. 6 on the strength of Friday's Gator beatdown.
