It wasn't the easy win we were looking for, as the Tide took only a three point lead into the locker room before pulling away late in the second half. As expected, Bama had some trouble on defense, as Davidson and Hendrix were forced to stay away from the basket to guard a peremiter player. Fisk and Ard led the scoring for Lipscomb, scoring 16 and 15 points respectively, and shooting 46% from the field combined. Finally, with 7:35 to play, the Tide finished on a 26-8 run to end 80-58.
Players of the Game
Richard Hendrix: Hendrix went double-double again, scoring 18 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, and going 4-6 on FTs.
Mykal Riley: The leading scorer for the Tide, Riley put up 21 points, including 15 from three point range.
Jermareo Davidson: Davidson came close to double double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 9 rebounds, and reaching the 1,000 point mark in his career on a free throw.
Also of note: The Strange Odyssey of Verice Cloyd continues, as Coach Gottfried announced after the game that Cloyd is considering a transfer:
"He wasn't with us tonight, and he is contemplating a transfer," said Gottfried of Cloyd, who had played 20 minutes over three games and scored six points.
"Like a lot of young players, he wants to play and playing time is a real issue. We are going to do everything we can to help him. He has 18 hours under his belt, and has done really well academically. If he chooses to do that, we will help him in any way we can. Kids want to play, and I have no problem helping guys with those decisions."
Verice Cloyd ponders his future with the Tide.
