Alex Leatherwood (OT)

Alex Leatherwood was a long-time Alabama commit who never seriously wavered. He did his due diligence, and took all five of his official visits. For a fleeting moment it seemed as though Michigan may be in the mix. But, the No. 1 tackle prospect out of Pensacola ultimately chose the Tide and became a huge cheerleader/field recruiter for the program. He became part of Alabama’s large early-entering class of 2017 in January.

The 6’6”, 327-pounder was an Under Armour, Parade, and Army All-American. Leatherwood is practicing with the team, and he has been assigned jersey No. 70.

Here’s what Scout has to say:

Leatherwood passes the immediate eye test. Has great size with good balance in upper and lower body. Very strong and uses that power when he gets his hands on defenders. Really moves guys around and likes to put them on the ground. Better run blocker at this time. Can get to the second level. More of a right tackle type on the next level. Solid feet, but can improve pass sets. Solid in and out of his stance.

Some of Alex’s highlights are below:
