Alabama Football Recruiting National Signing Day 2017: Player Profile: Dylan Moses

How’s this for high praise?

Not many are like this young man. He does so many things at an extremely high level and he could be a Sunday-guy on either side of the ball. He has the rare combination of size, speed, strength, athleticism, and toughness. A quick-twitch athlete for someone with his frame. He is likely to end up as a defensive guy. He could be an inside linebacker or someone who plays inside on some downs, then moves outside as an edge rusher in passing situations. He is sound fundamentally, he is an explosive player and he is someone who will make a lot of plays in the years to come.

The nation’s No. 1 linebacker recruiter (and No. 4 overall recruit,) was for a while in contention to be the overall No. 1 player in the nation. And, in a serious blow to the Tide’s in-division rival, he is straight outta’ LSU’s backyard — Baton Rouge. Remember the dustup when Les Miles offered a kid a scholarship in the 8th grade? Yeah, that’s Dylan Moses.

Standing just a shade under 6’3”, the 235-pounder has exceptional athleticism and versatility. He truly is special. Fortunately for Alabama, after LSU booted Les Miles, Moses’ tenuous long-time attachment to the Tigers finally gave way and he chose Alabama over LSU and Texas. Even better for the Tide, Moses signed his financial aid paperwork shortly thereafter, and he was an early enrollee at Alabama. He will join a young, hungry, athletic linebacker corps that includes Mack Wilson and Ben Davis, among others, alongside vets like Shaun Dion Hamilton and Keith Holcombe.

On October 2nd, we wrote of Moses:

A physical freak at 235 pounds with reported sub-4.6 speed, Dylan projects as an every-down guy who could conceivably play any of the four linebacker slots, but fits best at Sam or Will. If he develops as expected, he will be the next in a line of great Alabama linebackers.

Moses took home some serious hardware his senior season at IMG Academy: He was invited to The Opening, was an Under-Armour and Army All-America. He also took home the high school Butkus Award for best linebacker, and was named Parade’s High School Player of the Year.
