2013 ATH ArDarius Stewart Commits to Alabama

I suppose we can go ahead and declare Junior Day in Tuscaloosa a success, as Alabama his picked up its second commitment of the 2013 recruiting class of the day with athlete ArDarius Stewart joining the Tide. Per ESPN:

Junior ArDarius Stewart (Birmingham, Ala./Fultondale) committed to play for the Crimson Tide Saturday, multiple sources report. He was on campus for the program's junior day.

He was recently named the Class 2A Back of the Year in Alabama and finished fourth for the state's "Mr. Football" award. He amassed over 2,000 yards on the ground and threw for more than 1,400 yards (both school records).

By all accounts, Stewart grew up an Alabama fan and made this a quick process. He had received early looks from several SEC schools, including LSU and Auburn, but when 'Bama came in with the offer on Junior Day he apparently wasted no time in giving his acceptance.

The Fultondale product plays quarterback on the prep level, where he won Back of the Year honors in Class 2A, but given his lack of height for that position and the lack of great arm strength, he is widely expected to change positions at the next level. Alabama has recruited him as an athlete, and while he has professed an interest to playing offense at the next level, Stewart could play tailback, wide receiver, or cornerback. He will need to bulk up to make a difference at the next level, but the raw athleticism is certainly there.

Stewart becomes the sixth commitment of the 2013 recruiting class.
